Is my vehicle eligible for this donation program?
We accept most vehicles, running or not. We may not accept some older vehicles or very high mileage vehicles whose value would not offset the cost of towing. Please note:
- You must have a clear title to the vehicle; that is, it must be unencumbered by a lien.
- We must be able to tow your vehicle.

When will my vehicle be picked up?
Vehicles are picked up on whatever day works best of you — even on weekends if necessary! Vehicles are generally towed by a towing company that we contract with. You do not need to be present at the time of pickup if proper arrangements are made.
How should I prepare my vehicle?
- Please remove all personal possession from your car. We do not need the registration or insurance certificate. All four tires must be inflated. The vehicle should be intact with no major parts missing.
- The vehicle must be in a location that is accessible to a tow truck.
In what geographic areas do you pick up donated vehicles?
We will generally pick up vehicles that are located in our broadcast coverage area. If you are outside TPT’s broadcast area, our ability to pick-up your car depends on whether the value of the car will offset the increased towing costs. Give us a call or fill out the online form and we will contact you if your situation is applicable for car donation.
What happens to my vehicle after I donate it?
TPT does not sell your vehicle directly. Cars With Heart, our partner in vehicle donations, will pick up your vehicle and give you a receipt. Each vehicle is evaluated and sent to a vehicle auction, specialty wholesaler or retailer, recycler, or otherwise sold. A portion of the money collected from the sale of your vehicle goes directly to TPT.
What type of receipt do I receive?
Your receipt will list the make, model, year, etc. of the vehicle you donated when the vehicle is picked up. We will send you a second receipt as soon as the car is sold, letting you know the exact sale price. That amount is your tax deduction.
How much of a tax deduction could I receive?
If your vehicle sells for under $500.00 you determine the amount of the deduction. If the Vehicle sells for more than $500.00 you are able to deduct the full sales amount.
When you donate your car to TPT, you’ll get a receipt at the time we pick up the vehicle. Then we will send you a second receipt as soon as the car is sold, letting you know the exact sale price. That amount is your tax deduction.
